I returned to Chiang Mai last week, the city in Northern Thailand that I called home for nearly three months in 2011/12. My return involved elephants, vegetarian paradise, and lots of temples!

So…it took us months to talk about it but…we got scammed in Bangkok. Here’s our story. You can laugh, you can cry with us, but definitely take it to heart as these scams happen to tons of nice folks who visit the Thai capital.

We couldn’t have been more excited to see that jaw-droppingly gorgeous, secluded Maya Bay in person. It turns out, we almost wish we didn’t come here at all.

I didn’t think a truly paradisical, unspoiled island still existed in Thailand – but Koh Poda ticked all the boxes of the picture-perfect tropical island!

I’ve arrived in Thailand and it’s so good to be back here! I only interrupted my island hopping mission briefly for a quick visit to Bangkok before I moved on …

Stopping in Koh Chang for a few days was a spontaneous on-the-whim decision – and I am glad that I made the detour because the island is perfect for a mini beach vacation!

Back in Chiang Mai we wanted to see more of Northern Thailand’s scenic countryside and took a bicycle tour through rice fields, tiny villages and hot springs.
