Where to Find Some Summer Sun For Less This Year

Last Updated on January 1, 2016

Even though we look forward to it all year, summer can still be somewhat unbearable between the heat and humidity. Actually being able to unwind in the sun can often mean needing to escape to the beach. For those based in Europe, some of the world’s finest beaches are right on the doorstep. It needn’t cost the world to get there, either. Here, we look at some ideas for summer sun – including two of Dani’s favorites in Europe, the islands of Ibiza and Majorca – which will leave you with a bit more change than you might have been expecting.

Tunisia

If you’re not only looking for a sun soaked holiday, but are after something a little bit more exotic than most European destinations, why not head to the north coast of Africa? The country of Tunisia has a rich culture and history to keep visitors entertained, but you would be forgiven for spending your time in Tunisia relaxing on the beach.

While Tunisia is a little way beyond more familiar European destinations, your money will go a little further when you arrive, allowing you to splash out on something a little fancier than you might otherwise, or simply to save a few pounds on your holiday.

The Balearics

The Balearic Islands are a popular choice for holidaymakers travelling from the UK. Each of the islands has its own charm and each has more than its fair share of spectacular beaches and outstanding restaurants. Alongside the smaller islands of Ibiza and Menorca, especially the largest of the Balearics, Majorca, has plenty to offer visitors.

Those looking for lively nightlife but aren’t quite cut out for the scene of Ibiza, will be pleasantly surprised by Magaluf, while Santa Ponsa is a great place to soak up some rays on the beach. If you’re looking for something exotic and are set on looking at cheap holidays Majorca is the perfect choice for you.

Costa del Sol

One of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Europe, the Spanish Costa del Sol needs little introduction. The region offers a wonderful variety of things, from world class golf courses to lively nightlife. The wealth of great beaches is one of the primary reasons for the area’s popularity and visitors will find no shortage of beach-side resorts in which to forget their worries as they soak up some affordable summer sun.
