People recommend little villages and towns to us all the time – oh you just must go to {insert small town here}. We can’t possibly visit them all, but when more than a few people recommended Bisbee in Southern Arizona, we decided to extend our jaunt down from Tucson to Tombstone into a whole day trip instead. Who would have thought that this former copper mining town just 25 miles from Mexico would have such a thriving artist community! We ended up seeing street art all over town – from graffiti to murals to entire outdoor art installations, including an entire ‘outdoor living room’, several ‘art cars’, even an entire building transformed into an art project, and cool pieces like that one above by artist Lauren Penha.
As a pair of street art lovers, this made us fall even more for this charming little town! The vibe in town is great, with artists spilling out of every bar, restaurant and storefront along the few main roads and several artists who have their own workshops and galleries in town showcase their work during local art fairs and events throughout the year..

Hi Lauren, so happy that you found our site and the Polaroid of the Week featuring your piece! :) I googled your name when I wrote the article to put a link in to your website, but I wasn't 100 % sure if I had found the right site, so I didn't include it in the end, but we LOVE LOVE LOVE your work!

Hay! I'm more than thrilled to say that I typed in bisbee mural on google and stumbled across a picture of my own on this website. I really appreciate you taking the time to enjoy it!!! My parents recently pulled off the dope sticker lol because I didn't originally put that there. But now that I see it I think it definitely works in that picture!! Take care Lauren Penha

Lauren, Did the Bisbee 1000 last week. In the process of recovering the next day :) I found your art work. May I say "SENSATIONAL"! I took a photo of it and subsequently had it printed. I couldn't quite make out your name but now I know where credit belongs. A fabulous work. Now that I have your name, I'll go Facebook hunting. Thanks for a great image!

Jan - great to hear you love street art as much as we do! Some street art that we come across is just so creative and mind-provoking - it stimulates me just as much as a piece of art.

I am a street art enthusiast also. Being in a community of talented people who are beautifying their surroundings is uplifting.
