During the California leg of our round-the-world tour we had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Diva in San Francisco for two nights in May. Yesterday in Philadelphia was all about the food, so today we dedicated ourselves to discovering the role that Philadelphia has played in US history. Both of us knew about the main attractions/events like the Liberty Bell and the signing of the Constitution, but we were actually very surprised to understand just how much of the American way of life is revealed in the city.
Our first of two days in the capital included night bike rides through the neighborhoods, a visit to The White House and seeing the monuments lit up at night.
Although we could spend months immersed in that particularly sweet blend of New Orleans urban life, there came a point during our visit where we just had to get out of town…what we discovered were the rural roots that throughout history have melted together to make the Crescent City so unique.
