After 6 months, we finally found a tropical island in South East Asia that boasts the serene,white-sand beaches we have been dreaming about on Koh Rong, Cambodia – but we had to work to get there!
Walking through the streets in India, your nose is usually filled with the delicious smells of Indian spices coming out of a nearby house or restaurant… mmmh!
We have come across quite a few market oddities during our travels in Central America – a basket of live iguanas tied-up and ready to be cooked in Leon; fried grasshoppers and the last squeal of a pig’s life in Oaxaca – but never anything like what we saw in the Tuscan town of Lucca this week.

Crossing from Guatemala into Honduras, the first thing we noticed is that we had left the Mayan culture behind. Immediately gone were the colorful indigenous trajes. The Honduran women dress fairly similar to women in the U.S. or Europe. Many of the men, however, wear a stereotypical cowboy outfit – leather cowboy boots, jeans, a fancy leather belt, button down shirt and of course the indispensable cowboy hat.
