Who knew that Sri Lanka had so many picture-perfect tropical beaches? I spent the last week beach bumming around some of the country’s popular beaches in the south.

This past week was all about temple hopping as I explored the ancient cities of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. The most remarkable sight: The Jetavanaramaya Stupa!

I made it all up to Jaffna in the far north west of Sri Lanka, a city still very much marked by the civil war that tore the country apart until 2009. However, I found a hopeful, welcoming community of Tamil people there!

A dream came true for me last week: I was able to see elephants in the wild on an elephant safari in Sri Lanka! My time in the country is off to an excellent start!

I spent five weeks traveling around Sri Lanka, and I am sharing how much I spent for accommodation, food, transportation, a SIM card and activities during my trip.
