We spent one day this week with the elephants at the Elephant Nature Park north of Chiang Mai, an elephant sanctuary which is home to over 30 rescued elephants.

We visited 10 countries this year, and we fell in love with a lot of the places we visited. Which cities made it into our top five favorite destinations of 2012?

Far from the bright lights and bustle of Bangkok, cycling through the northern Thai countryside outside of Chiang Mai filled us with a sense of the Thai rhythm of life.

I returned to Chiang Mai last week, the city in Northern Thailand that I called home for nearly three months in 2011/12. My return involved elephants, vegetarian paradise, and lots of temples!
