This past week has been the most unsettling week I’ve had in months. For one, I am supposed to fly to a (for me) new country two weeks from now and I haven’t gotten any details about the trip yet from the organizers. While I’m used to planning things spontaneously or at the last minute, with this trip I don’t even know if it is going to happen at all, and so I found myself waiting all week to hear about flight confirmations or other travel arrangements, and unsure if I shouldn’t opt for Plan B instead.
I already mentioned vaguely in July’s Life Lately Update that my September travel plans would involve a big hike, and I will reveal more details on my upcoming travels in the August version next week.. so stay tuned for some exciting travel plans.
In addition, I found myself on an emotional roller coaster this past week, but more on that next week as well – let’s just say: Leaving New York will be hard and probably drag me down, unless I occupy myself with other awesome things.
My last couple of weeks here are incredibly busy – touristing with friends who are in town, revisiting favorite places and stopping by my favorite eateries one last time (hello there Mr Cronut!), another trip out to Jersey and a quick beach getaway, and a surprise return trip to the Bronx last Wednesday, because I wanted to see some other parts of this giant borough and visit the Botanical Gardens which are free on Wednesdays.
The Bronx won me over on my second visit, too, thanks to the amazing pizza at Zero Otto Nove in New York’s original Little Italy (I didn’t even know there was another Little Italy, in addition to Manhattan’s LI!), the amazing street art scene and the fancy mansions in Riverdale. Until now, it has been my mission to get more people to include Brooklyn in their NYC itineraries, but I think my new mission is getting people to visit the Bronx 🙂

Beautiful! I have yet to visit Little Italy in the Bronx (if you are there during the first weekend of September you should stop by the Ferragosto!).
You probably have seen more of NYC than me in these short couple of months!
Keep highlighting all of these wonderful places that I can discover :D

Bummer that I'll miss the Ferragosto this weekend but I'll put it on my list for next year :) At least I had some A-MA-ZING pizza (at ZERO OTTO NOVE 089) and pastries (at Palombo Pastry Shop) while I was there :) Highly recommend visiting Little Italy in the Bronx, you could combine it with a trip to the Botanic Gardens which are free on Wednesdays and worth a visit.

Can I please live in one of those houses? I'm sure it will be hard to leave New York, but I hope your upcoming travels ease the pain a little bit :) Can't wait to hear about this big hike!

Justine - I never thought I'd say this but after touring the Bronx I'd totally live there! :)
