Polaroid of the Week

We saw many jaw-dropping sunsets in Laos, and this was our favorite one: from top of a hill in Luang Prabang, where the sun sets over the Mekong River.

Montreal is known for its French feel, but who knew that there would be such a great street art scene. We loved this Mexican mama, tattoo and all!

We spent 1 July, Canada’s birthday, in the country’s capital Ottawa, and had a blast watching the Canadians getting all dressed up in red & white and celebrating their nation’s biggest day.

We took our bicycles out to the Burritts Rapids Locks, lock 17 of 45 locks along the Rideau Canal in Ontario, a UNESCO Heritage Site in Canada.

We have been in Ontario for over four weeks now and almost every night, whether the day is filled with rain or sunshine, the big Canadian skies open up to create wildly vivid, dramatic sunsets. Each night we pedal our bikes to find the perfect front row seats of the nightly showing of the sunset cinema.

My highlights this week included cats, dogs and squirrels. Yes, I said it.

After 6 months, we finally found a tropical island in South East Asia that boasts the serene,white-sand beaches we have been dreaming about on Koh Rong, Cambodia – but we had to work to get there!

Walking through the streets in India, your nose is usually filled with the delicious smells of Indian spices coming out of a nearby house or restaurant… mmmh!

We have come across quite a few market oddities during our travels in Central America – a basket of live iguanas tied-up and ready to be cooked in Leon; fried grasshoppers and the last squeal of a pig’s life in Oaxaca – but never anything like what we saw in the Tuscan town of Lucca this week.
