While we were staying at the beach house, we had many little geckos that were hanging out there with us – including this one, our personal favorite!

I returned to Chiang Mai last week, the city in Northern Thailand that I called home for nearly three months in 2011/12. My return involved elephants, vegetarian paradise, and lots of temples!

We ended our time in Costa Rica with an action-packed couple of days in La Fortuna where we hiked to a volcano and a waterfall and admired the countless hummingbirds!

We were greeted by ‘tropical depression’ Matthew within 12 hours of our arrival to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, a small island off the coast of Belize. This was our first severe storm since setting off on our trip.

Since we’ve started traveling full-time in 2010, we ran into a hurricane every year – first Matthew in Belize, then Irene in Washington last year, and this year Ernesto in Mexico…

This week’s Polaroid is about the Batu Caves outside of Kuala Lumpur which are home to a series of limestone caves, Hindu shrines, dozens of adorable monkeys and the upcoming Thaipusam festival!

This week I returned to Niagara Falls for my second visit! After experiencing the Canadian side in 2011, I now got to soak up the feel of the American side (and got completely drenched!)

Last week I went to Santa Rosa in Northern California, a trip that did not only bring me to a bunch of wineries, but also to the Redwoods, the world’s tallest trees!

We fell head over heels in love with Cuzco, especially with the gorgeous San Blas neighborhood with its narrow, steep and winding street and colonial houses.

I’ve arrived in Colombia – in Cartagena, to be precise, a city I’ve been dreaming of visiting for years. My start to my 4th round of Latin America travels was off to a great start…
