We spent 1 July, Canada’s birthday, in the country’s capital Ottawa, and had a blast watching the Canadians getting all dressed up in red & white and celebrating their nation’s biggest day.

We took our bicycles out to the Burritts Rapids Locks, lock 17 of 45 locks along the Rideau Canal in Ontario, a UNESCO Heritage Site in Canada.
Ottawa is a clean, green city filled with some of the nicest citizens we have met along the way, but there is much more to the city than first impressions may reveal. Luckily we discovered that the key to conquering Ottawa is all about the locks.
