Savannah, Georgia, was one of the destinations on our New York to New Orleans road trip that we both looked most forward to, having wanted to visit this little town in Georgia for a long time. We both had certain images of the town in mind before we even arrived: grand Victorian mansions, little squares with locals reading the papers on the benches, trees filled with Spanish moss…
And when we arrived, we were not disappointed! Savannah turned out to be one of our favorite places in the U.S., and we loved the small-town feel, the friendly people, the independent cafes and walking the tree-lined streets for hours and hours.
Enjoy Savannah through our lens:
We love the public statues in the squares around town…
…and can easily imagine living in one of these gorgeous buildings…
...hell, we could even find religion – these churches are so beautiful!
This butterfly fluttered by us in a square…
…on our way to this supposedly haunted house.
The details around the town make Savannah such a unique city…
…with unexpected quirks that make you laugh out loud…
…and intricate, yet crumbling features that make us realize Savannah’s rich deep history…
We could easily spend hours in the squares of Savannah…
Soldiers chose to spend time in the graveyard instead and trampled it – leaving mismatched or unmarked graves.
We were so charmed by the sprawling properties…
…and even more so by the Spanish Moss…
Everywhere we looked, tiny details were just begging to be discovered in Savannah, and we can not wait to go back for more!

Great pics! I am still upset about not making it to Savannah during my trip around the USA in 2004.

Hey Spencer! Don't worry, one of the cool things about Savannah is its timeless feeling. Even if you go in 2015 I bet the city will be almost entirely the same!

I tend to get a bit stir crazy in small towns but I feel like a few days here with a good book would be heavenly.

Savannah really is a great town. We visited for the first time last year and fell in love. Like you said, we could spend days just wandering the different squares downtown. And the food...no shortage of great stuff there.

Absolutely! We found so many independent little coffee shops and restaurants, we could spend weeks eating our way around Savannah :)

Thanks for your beautiful pictures of the city where I was born and live. I appreciate the reminders of its uniqueness, which can be taken for granted as I rush through life each day. Often it takes a visitor's eye to remind us locals of what we have. Come back soon.
