We arrived in Buenos Aires last week and realized that to be fully accepted as ‘PorteƱas’, we needed to get our very own Mate, a hollowed-out gourd used to drink Yerba Mate.
I didn’t expect it at all, but Tel Aviv grabbed me hard, pulled me in with its irresistible aura, and didn’t let me go. I left my heart in Tel Aviv.
This weekly series focuses on budget accommodation gems we discover while on the road. This week: Entre Piedras hostel in Alegria, El Salvador.
We are three days in to a two month housesit on a remote part of the Mexican Riviera Maya. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting in our Notes from the Beach House series to share the highs and lows of one our favorite aspects of long-term travel – Housesitting around the world. Stay tuned!
Our time at the beach house has gotten considerably more intense since our last posting…not least due to a visit from a hurricane called Ernesto.
We finished our housesit in Mexico and started our next housesitting assignment in Costa Rica with a big bang – Costa Rica welcomed us with an earthquake!
One night I watched as an Elephant walked into a bar…this was no joke either, there was no punchline in sight. Read on for our story of two years on the road and the many occasions we have had to bear witness to animal cruelty on the road.
We highly recommend Hostal CasArte Takubamba in Sucre, Bolivia! A beautiful hostel with an artsy vibe, we found clean and bright rooms here, a sunny courtyard and good breakfast!
