I couldn’t resist a short stopover in New York City, my favorite city in the world, when the opportunity arose on my way to Germany from Peru. What I didn’t know was that it would coincide with a major snowstorm that would result in the cancellation of hundreds of flights over the next couple of days (luckily not mine!).
I felt slightly unprepared when I arrived with my Converse canvas shoes and a light rain jacket in -13C (8F) and 4 inches (10cm) of snow.
Despite my inappropriate clothes, I layered up and took a walk through Central Park, which had transformed into a magical winter wonderland: kids were sledding, grown-ups were skiing and I got to witness a group of Asian tourists’ first snow experience. The joy in the air, the beautiful white layer covering trees and bushes and the twinkling ice on the frozen lakes and ponds made me actually enjoy my first true winter experience in five years – something I never thought possible.
This quick trip has also meant I have experienced New York in all four seasons in the last ten months. Even though summer is still my favorite, I’d love to one day spend an entire year here experiencing the seasons as they change.

Nice one and lovely coincidence indeed! Even thoughfollowing seems to be more like a "leaf peeping commercial", but maybe still worth a look!? http://petapixel.com/2012/11/30/time-lapse-of-central-park-in-nyc-shows-the-seasons-changing-over-6-months/ This is also a nice photo nerd site, in case you didn't come across yet... :)

I actually hadn't come across that site yet! I just spent an hour reading through some of their articles and had to stop myself :D The time lapse video is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, Oliver :)
