We saw many jaw-dropping sunsets in Laos, and this was our favorite one: from top of a hill in Luang Prabang, where the sun sets over the Mekong River.
One afternoon this week we set off with a big bottle of water and two mountain bikes to conquer caves and rumored waterfalls outside of Nong Khiew, a tiny town which spans either side of the wide Nam Ou river in Northern Laos. The day didn’t exactly go as planned, but it was perfect…
Buddhism is widely spread throughout Laos and you can see monks in their draping saffron robes everywhere in the country – even cycling through the fields…
As we arrive in the late afternoon light, the scene is more how we would have imagined a trip to Mongolia, not Phonsavan, Laos. Motorcycle riders with scarves over their faces to block the dust, the cityscape here is barren but you see from the construction that there is prosperity in its future. But we’re here to see the mysterious Plain of Jars.
