Polaroid of the week: Spring time in New York City

Polaroid of the week: Spring time in New York City

Last Updated on December 26, 2014

polaroid of the week new york city springBright blooming flowers, warm rain, sunny skies and electric excitement in the air made up of the collective relief of millions of people that winter is truly over and the buzz of the romantic possibilities of the summer – this is why when we got the offer to housesit in New York in the spring, we knew we had to jump at the chance. There was nothing wrong with summer in Thailand, Cambodia and India, followed by summer on the beach in Mexico and Costa Rica and then having summer again in Buenos Aires and Santiago, and with the two of us, fall and winter need not apply to be a part of our adventure.

But Spring! So focused on chasing summer, how easy it would have been to forget how amazing spring feels and more importantly how it smells! Tulips and other flowers bursting out of public gardens and spilling over private balconies, weeks of pink and white blossoms on the trees brightening up every street. Walking around town during the day, never too hot but warm enough for flip flops and happily leaving our jackets at home. Even the storms, the humidity building up, the thunder and lightning, and then the fresh smell of a showered city, are so easy to enjoy.

Spring has got to be the best time to live in New York!

New York... I don't know... I was there once. but so many people, so many cars, so many freaks =) Great city, but not for living, as for me.

What an incredible picture! I have heard that New York City is such a beautiful place to visit in the spring. I can only imagine how lovely Central Park would be. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, please come up to NYC between 17 and 20 August - that's when we'll be back here for a long weekend! Would be amazing if we could spend it with you!
